At our guild, a member brought in a LOT of fabric that had been donated by a family friend. Among the treasures were a number of vintage quilt tops. I picked up several of them, with the intention of taking them home to quilt them, then donate them to charity. After multiple soaks in oxy-clean, they made it to the longarm!
This one was a simple rectangles design. It was a bit of a mystery, as it had obviously been sewn together and turned at some point, but we couldn't really figure out what it was! There were no holes in the top for quilting or tying. Our best guess was a duvet cover. I went with a large scale stipple, as it was a bit wonky and this let me quilt it without pleats.
This one was very flat (if two inches shorter on the bottom row!) so enabled some much more detailed quilting. It really is lovely!
Both the backing fabrics were from the totes of donated fabrics. As soon as they're bound, I'm going to take them to the local Catholic Worker House.
